• Base Power opens a short-term factory at the former Statesman site – the Austin company raised $1B to expand production while broader redevelopment plans for the South Central Waterfront District remain stalled.

• Congress Avenue redesign enters its first phase in 2026 – the city will focus on the Cesar Chavez to 7th Street stretch, transforming it into a more human-centric, multi-functional street with wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and healthier trees.
