About the Capitol District
The Capitol District encompasses the northern reaches of downtown Austin, centered around the Texas State Capitol and extending along the Lavaca, Colorado, Guadalupe, and West Avenue corridors north of 12th Street. This is one of downtown's quieter, more residential neighborhoods, offering proximity to the University of Texas campus, the Judges Hill Historic District, and Pease Park. The district features a mix of established mid-rise condos and newer developments, appealing to residents who prefer a calmer pace while remaining within walking distance of downtown's core.
This district doesn't currently have residential condo buildings, but it's a key lifestyle area for residents of nearby districts.
